Femme Den set to conduct workshop and talk at Design Research Conference
Smart Design’s Femme Den is dedicated to exploring the gap between assumptions and realities about women. Members of the group will be presenting at the 2010 Design Research Conference at IIT Institute of Design in Chicago this May.
Femme Den co-founder Erica Eden will be sharing insights on design and gender with the whole group during her afternoon keynote address on May 11th, while Femme Den co-founder Yvonne Lin, design researcher Diane Lee, and associate director of industrial design, John Keichel, will conduct an interactive workshop on May 10th.
The event will take place at the Spertus Institute and will feature other keynote speakers such as Tim Brown (IDEO), Don Norman (author of The Design of Everyday Things), Martha Cotton (gravitytank), Heather Fraser (Rotman School of Business), and many others.
As part of DRC’s special workshop sessions, Lin and Lee will explore the underdeveloped opportunity for good design. The workshop will be interactive, allowing participants to meet and work with designers and other attendees from various fields, while we all, as a group, think about sex.
